Everyday Math Moments is a newsletter written to the parents of preschool children ages 3 to 5 with the intent of raising awareness and involvement in early childhood mathematics.

     Early Numeracy skills can be cultivated every day as a child interacts with the environment. Opportunities for parents, grandparents, day care providers, and preschool teachers to develop a strong mathematical foundation are set within everyday living. If these caregivers understand the mathematical principles children need to learn, and have an awareness of daily situations where these principles occur they can highlight these important foundational ideas – preparing the way for future success in math.

     This newsletter is written to provide the adults who influence children with the understanding of early numeracy concepts. It provides suggestions of ways to link theses concepts to daily adult/child interactions that will create mathematical awareness and cultivate foundational mathematical understanding.
